Hi LadyNicola would you like to share your story here https://www.abbi.org.au/forums/forum/our-stories/
there are some guidelines for you here https://www.abbi.org.au/forums/topic/guidelines-on-telling-your-story/
in reply to: What to do with a Transgender Woman? #4301The launch of political groups dedicated to the promotion of the dogma that there is a sex binary – in the face of scientific facts such as a consistent birth rate of 1.7% intersex individuals – is particularly aggravating. Yet this is the weird point in human history we find ourselves at – like a full circle back to the pre-scientific era – people now think the strength of their convictions can substitute for objective reality.
Constantly revealing their appalling ignorance about sexuality and gender identity.
It’s also why I despise the use of terms like ’the gay lifestyle’ and the ’trans lifestyle’ –
you are certainly not alone in your aversion to the term ‘gay lifestyle’……I wrote about that here if you are interested https://www.abbi.org.au/2017/09/gay-lifestyle/
in reply to: What to do with a Transgender Woman? #4285Hi Genevieve
it is so wonderful of you to share your story so openly and honestly. You are the first trans person to share here. Thanks. It gives us a deeper understanding of the complexities and sometimes hardships of the trans journey.
One thing I think we can all relate to is “. But suppression consumes vast amounts of internal resources”
You must find it incredibly offensive when christian conservatives think of this a “choice” and the more recent focus against the trans community.
Life must have it’s challenges being LGBT in Malaysia Pang….especially if you are out there as an activist
in reply to: Fruits of the Spirit #4229One thing I have observed over time Phoenix is that many LGBTI people from strong biblically based backgrounds often evolve from a belief based system to a values based system.
in reply to: Homosexuals Anonymous (HA) wasn't the way! #4227Hi Damian…..you may have noticed that I changed your subject line to include homosexuals anonymous as many won’t know what HA is and also we want it to come up in searches. I think we talked about this before…..it was pretty much a Catholic Group wasn’t it. Or was it linked to the one founded by Seventh Day Adventist and huge moral failure, Colin Cook.
in reply to: Homosexuals Anonymous (HA) wasn't the way! #4220HI Damian…..I believe Homosexuals Anonymous still exists in some places……have you heard anything or this
in reply to: Hidden Agenda #4218this is a really important discussion. Our post on Welcoming, Accepting and Affirming churches is probably relevant here https://www.abbi.org.au/2017/03/welcoming-accepting-affirming/
Good on you Phoenix for reaching out. Have you seen the post or listened to the presentation on being an ambassador https://www.abbi.org.au/audio-resources/anthony-venn-brown/
in reply to: Demons, Pentes, cults, Living Waters #4196Hey Jim…..welcome. Thanks for sharing here. So great to have had time together recently.
Some of us are slow learners eh……22 years for me…a bit longer for you I believe. I’ve come across guys that didn’t come out till their 60’s. That is a lot of your life trying everything not to be you.Hi Craig….thanks so much for sharing your story here. I will never forget the first time we met and you and the TV camera crew were being chased by the Exclusive Brethren and we finally got to meet up at the Police Station in the city. It is challenging for all of us from faith backgrounds. …..even more so if you’ve been part of a cult like the Exclusive Brethren. Lets hope that any other young gay, lesbian or trans youth find hope reading your story here. Thanks again my friend……you’ve done well.
in reply to: Coming out – my closet was an air raid shelter #4122OMG….you did it. Congrats
Liz thanks so much for sharing your story of being a mother with a gay child and the work you now do because of what you’ve learnt. You know I am a HUGE fan of yours.
Welcome dreamer. You’re the first to ask a question here. As we are building the forum we will get on to finding some answers for you as soon as we can.
in reply to: Out to myself and the world at 51 #4051Hey RainbowChild….thanks for sharing your story. Interesting how we come to some realisations later in life when others seem to have a clear understanding in their teens. Glad to have you in ABBIchat and as a moderator. We appreciate your volunteer work. I trust you find it rewarding.
