Obama moves to outlaw gay conversion ‘therapy’

In the US there’s a large market for psychiatric therapies designed to change the sexuality of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people. Now, the US president Barack Obama has condemned these gay conversion therapies and a bill is being put to Congress to outlaw them. In Australia there are numerous organisations offering the same kind of conversion therapies, and one gay rights group is calling for the law to be changed here too.

ISABELLA HIGGINS talks with leading authority on the movement and a survivor, Anthony Venn-Brown, from Ambassadors & Bridge Builders International, and Johan de Joot from Brisbane, also a survivor.
